ENCE welcomes Miikka "suNny" Kemppi

Today we are announcing the signing of Miikka “suNny” Kemppi to ENCE. Miikka, along with the rest of our Counter-Strike roster, has signed a contract through the end of 2021

Press release 23.8.2019 12:00 EEST

Miikka is one of the most successful Counter-Strike players in Finland’s history. He first made his mark internationally during PENTA’s run to the PGL Major in 2017, prior to being signed by mousesports shortly after. Miikka has won multiple international titles, most notably StarSeries i-League Season 4 and ESL One New York 2018. He was also named the 16th best player in the world in 2018 by HLTV.org, becoming the second ever Finnish player to be included following ENCE’s Aleksi “allu” Jalli, who made the list back in 2015 with NiP.

We are extremely delighted to have Miikka back home and to be a key element in the next chapter of ENCE, and want to thank mousesports for facilitating the buyout of his contract. Miikka brings a wealth of experience and a history of success to the team. His individual skill and ability to influence team decisions positively in the game will be key assets in ENCE to keep elevating the potential of our Counter-Strike team even further. Miikka will be joining our team’s active roster directly after the end of the StarLadder Berlin Major, debuting at BLAST Pro Series Moscow on September 13-14.

The rest of ENCE’s Counter-Strike roster have also signed extensions to their contracts, ensuring the team will continue to represent ENCE through the end of 2021.

Change in the active roster after the StarLadder Berlin Major

We are also announcing that Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen will not be a part of the active roster after the conclusion of the Major, and is available for discussion regarding the buyout of his contract. Aleksi has been an important part of the unforgettable run we have had in the last year and a half, and we are proud of the foundation he has built with us at ENCE. Aleksi has been a model professional and a positive influence on and off the server, and we would like to thank him for being an integral part of making Finnish Counter-Strike history.

After careful evaluation of the situation with the current team dynamic, the team and management agreed a change was necessary for ENCE to keep pushing towards consistently making championship contending runs in international tournaments.

Aleksi and the team have digested the forthcoming changes well in advance, and have been fully focusing on the upcoming Major for the last two weeks after their well earned summer break.

The team kindly asks for any media requests regarding the situation to be postponed until the end of the Major to give our team the opportunity to fully focus on their performance, and hope the media respect our wishes.
