Serral vs Elazer

08.09.2020 16:00
(EEST, Helsinki, Finland)

Serral begins the Playoffs with some explosive results as he takes down Elazer 3-1 in Winners' Round 1!

Win: Deathaura (map 1)

Elazer goes for a big roach timing all-in with double evolution chamber upgrades and roach speed. He moves across the map with 35 roaches. His timing is a bit off though, and once he moves out with his roaches, Serral manages to wrap around them with lings and his own roaches.

Even with inferior upgrades Serral defends succesfully and takes a massive supply lead. He turns the tables on the Polish zerg and moves out, piling on Elazer and concluding game 1.

Loss: Ever Dream (map 2)

Elazer takes a quick gas and a pool, allowing for fast and aggressive speedling production. His 30+ lings head across the map and Serral walls his base completely off. The 3 queens seem to succesfully defend but a missclick with one of them allows a Elazer's lings to get through a small gap in the wall. This fatal mistake puts the series at a 1-1 tie.

Win: Eternal Empire (map 3)

Both zergs decide to go for similar macro builds, getting 3 bases up before anything big happens.

This is where the builds take different routes as Serral puts down a roach warren, and Elazer chooses the spire play.

The mutalisk production starts right away as the spire finishes. Elazer also takes an aggressive base very close to Serral’s own bases to mine from the rich gas geyser

Serral defends against the mutalisks very cost-efficiently with infestors and hydras. But his economy is halted as Elazer keeps finding his mineral lines with his banelings, taking down a lot of drones.

While all this has been going on Elazer has gone for tech switch to the lurker hydra Serral is playing too.

It's Serral's turn to take the lead in economy, as he sends burrowed roaches and lurkers to Elazer's side of the map, with serious damages to the bases and the drone count.

Serral's main army moves out, and he pushes Elazer out of the game with his lurker/hydra/viper force.

Win: Ice and Chrome (map 4)

Serral sniffs out a ling attack and prepares for it with a massive amount of lings and some banelings. Elazer is not planning to go for an all-in though, which forces Serral to either act or get left behind in economy. He swarms Elazer's bases and finishes the game with explosive baneling connections with the drones.
