Overwatch Roster Reveal

News 1.1.2018

With a new year starting it is time to give more information about our 2018 plans in Overwatch. As we revealed a few weeks ago we started building the roster for 2018 with Oula “OLBAA” Räsänen at the helm. After several tryouts, we now have the roster for the 2018 Overwatch Open Division Season 1 set and we are excited to announce our Overwatch players:

  • Oula “OLBAA” Räsänen
  • Kalle “Cali” Ylönen
  • Roope “Ruape” Kurkela
  • Matias “Lalli” Kivimäki
  • Robin “snappe” Uotila
  • Santeri “Styge” Suomi

We have also recruited Niklas “Nikse” Salminen to work as our Overwatch coach going into the new year and we managed to get a small introduction of himself and the team:

Hi, I’m Niklas, I have a strong background in multiple first-person shooters as well as coaching and playing team sports. I first came in to help OLBAA build a Finnish roster that can compete at a high level of overwatch and as the process went on I saw an opportunity to continue as a coach and keep helping the players to become even better. Our goal was to make the most talented team with players who are flexible and coachable. So in our frontline, we got two players who have put a lot of work in the Finnish Overwatch scene, Ruape and Cali. Ruape is a vocal main tank player with a lot of LAN experience in Finnish tournaments and Cali is our off-tank who has already been in the spotlight under the ENCE banner with steady performances.

Styge and Snappe are the support duo, Styge is our least experienced player but he is packed with mechanical skill and he has shown that in the ladder by gaining high ranks with his Zenyatta and Ana. Snappe brings a lot of depth and consistency into our back line with his deep hero pool and he will be showcasing that when the meta shifts.

Last but not least, DPS players: Lalli and Olbaa. Lalli brings a lot of firepower into our team and he has displayed that he can go toe to toe with high calibre players in his earlier performances and he kept doing so in our scrims. Olbaa is the Captain who brings a lot of experience and individual skill on the table, his patience and will to improve will be a strong core for the team. With this roster, we achieved our goal which was to have a mix of veterans and newcomers who are hungry for success and to prove that Finland can still keep producing new talent and solidify its spot as a top-tier Overwatch country.

We are very excited for the new steps that we will be taking in the Overwatch eSport scene and very much look forward to what the new lineup will bring. We hope that everyone cheers on the players as they look to solidify themselves as a top tier team. The Overwatch Open Season will begin January 6th which you can see the details on below and you will be able to catch all the action live here on ence.gg as we follow the career of the new lineup.
