ENCE and Overwatch in 2018

News 11.12.2017

We launched our Overwatch squad at the start of 2017 with high expectations, our first goal was to claim a position of being one of the top teams in Finland and we made a great improvement over the year that resulted in two championships; Winning Finnish Championships over Team Gigantti and Legend Series over eSuba.

“Everyone at ENCE management sees huge potential in Overwatch and it is definitely esports title we want to be part of. This is still learning experience for us, but we are committed to building the team towards the top and aim to see our team in Overwatch League at some point.”, says  Petri Hämälä, CEO of ENCE

With the year nearing it’s end, it is time to plan for the future. We have come to an agreement with Team Gigantti of the transfers of Roni “LhCloudy” Tiihonen and Riku “Ripa” Toivanen for an undisclosed fee. This also means we are saying good bye to Ville “Trickwide” Saastamoinen, Richard “rCk” Kanerva and Samuli “BAITO” Karppinen, who is unfortunately suffering from an arm injury and is unable to compete in the near future, as their contracts have ran out.

ENCE will continue with Overwatch in 2018 and our first target is to seek success in the Open division and then qualify for the Contenders. We are also happy to see that there will be local competitions available also in Finland as ASSEMBLY and LanTrek will host tournaments during the spring.

We have selected Oula “OLBAA” Räsänen to work as team captain, he will be building the roster together with team coaches and management for 2018.

“I’m very excited to be part of ENCE for the coming year. When the opportunity came I didn’t have to think too long where I wanted to stay and help to build a new roster to compete in future tournaments. The first mission is building the roster and then create a development strategy for the team. Expectations rises with time and it’s important to keep feet on the ground.”, says Oula “OLBAA” Räsänen, Team Captain of ENCE Overwatch

We would like to take this opportunity and say a huge THANK YOU to Roni, Riku, Ville and Richard for their contribution during this past 2017 season. ENCE will be using the down time ahead of the new season to rebuild our team to be a serious competitor on the Overwatch battlefields.
